BACK TO CURRENT NEWS NEWS ARCHIVE Lark in the Park HD1 Studios is Co sponsoring this years Lark in the Park which returns to Greenhead Park, this year promises to be a fun-filled weekend, with a great line-up of bands, from Saturday 19 August, 1.00pm until 8.00pm to Sunday 20 August, from 2.00pm to 9.00pm. On the Saturday, warming up the crowd the first band 'Pinstripe' who will play from 3.45pm until 4.30pm. Following on from them will be three piece band 'Northern Beats' from 4.45pm until 5.30pm. Joining the line-up at 5.45pm until 6.30pm will be 'The Nu Popes' who play a mixture of Jazz Funk, Blues and Boogaloo laced with Latin, Dub, Psychedelia and Hip Hop. Finishing off on the Saturday evening will be 'U2 Tribute Band' from 6.45pm until 7.45pm. On the Sunday 'New Vinyl' will play from 3.30pm until 4.00pm. and at 4.15pm to 5.00pm 'Modliste' Following on at 5.30pm until 6.15pm 'The Eves' will be performing. Indie/Pop band 'I.E.' who originate from Halifax take to the stage at 6.45pm until 7.30pm. Leading up to the fireworks finale 'Horace X' will play from 8.00pm until 9.15pm. Horace X formed in 1993, combining infectious dance rhythms with Eastern European fiddle tunes. This means an even better recording and mixing experience at HD1! STUDIO ACTIVITY October 2005 Leeds band Printed Sound who have just signed a deal with Red Alert Management on the strength of their first demo recorded at HD1, were back again to record an EP which is going to be released on the Fierce Panda label. Dave Creffield, (Embrace, Kaiser Cheifs) who is producing the band, believes they have what it takes to go on and make an impact within the industry The Cut yet another HD1 regular has were in recently to record their latest EP titled “Walking Lonely Streets” which is out now. Milloy from Wakefield were in the studio again, recording their 3rd album. The band has been using the studios since 1999, and it was great to see them back Fill The Void from Manchester Came over to HD1 to record their first demo and were extremely impressed with the results. Mikey their lead singer had this to say:- "The session was amazing, were so happy with everything!! The engineer, the equipment, the quality......just everything!! Thank so much" In the studio at the moment are Leeds-based band Immune who have booked time to record an album. The band scoured the region looking at numerous studios for the right place to record, and eventually decided on us. Early indications are very impressive! May 2005 We have now teamed up with Hudds Music Scene in offering invaluable services to local musicians, through facilities hire, sponsorship, and general support for all things musical. Hudds Music Scene are the people responsible for helping to create a vibrant live music scene in Huddersfield by offering live gigs for up and coming local bands. Check out www.huddsmusicscene.co.uk for more info The BBC has recently booked the studio to record a track by “The Cherie Gears Jazz Quintet” which will appear on BBC’s Songs Of Praise. The band has been receiving a lot of interest after winning the Outstanding Performance Category at The National Music for Youth Awards, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall. They have since gone on to perform at Rowen Atkinson 50th Birthday party, ITV’s The South Bank Show, NEC Birmingham, Queen Elizabeth Hall London and the BBC and seem to be going from strength to strength. The legendary metal producer David Chang has been recording at HD1 with Test Switch Isolator from Huddersfield andChemical Kaos from London. If I Were King (Ex Jacasta Project) from Halifax was in to record with their new line up after previously recording in Parr Studio’s in Liverpool. They are getting huge media interest after recently being played on Radio1. "Shoot The Sun”, a production company from Luton. Havebeen using the studio to produce the band “I Am The Door” from Luton. Huddersfield MC Spida Lee (Practical Headz) has been producing material for a forthcoming release on Rubicon Records. The video is already in production. Huddersfield bands Serotonin, Seven Acres, Penknife lovelife, Ridgevex, Smooth and Icarus as well as Leeds bands Juma and Printed Sound have all recently finished recording projects at HD1. HUDDERSFIELD HD1 RECORDING STUDIOS - RE-BRAND - RE-VITALISE! Beaumont Street Studios has had a new face-lift and a new identity! May we present... HD1 Studios, Yorkshire's best-equipped recording facility! Steve Houghton, the Studio Marketing Assistant explains all, "The new logo and web site have been designed to create an updated image, which we hope will develop into a strong brand that people will come to recognise and trust as the reputation of the studio continues to grow . The new image is something that the whole BSS team is incredibly proud of and our supporters will be pleased to see". In addition, BSS have also made some big changes to the actual studio facilities. Studio Manager Sam Roberts comments: " Yes, the studios certainly look very different after a whole process of refurbishment with a new interior make-over and important additions to the recording equipment, including the Pro Tools HD2 digital recording system. This means the studio has extremely high spec facilities, allowing HD1 to retain its status as the best equipped recording studio in the region! It's great that bands can enjoy this new HD1 set up but our real advantage is the professional HD1 sound that has developed over the years". This re-design is another exciting move in the history of the studio which continues to provide support both for local musicians, schools and community groups as well as the impressive and established client list that the studio has built over the years. HD1 hope that the new refurb will atract musicians from areas such as Manchester and Leeds. With a new look and new equipment, HD1 Studios continue to boast about working with an eclectic list of artists and bands that include Embrace, Shed Seven, Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets), Howie B, Terrorvision and more recently 10,000 Things.

ARTIST FOCUS - TWISTEYE
May 2004 Twisteye from Barnsley, have just finished recording their new 5 track EP. They employed the services of the legendary Dave Creffield (of Embrace fame) to produce the EP and Dave gets glowing praise on their website! Check out www.twisteye.freeserve.co.uk for more information on the band.

HD1 RELEASES HOME GROWN ARTISTS CD!
June 2004 A CD of artists that have recorded at HD1 is planned for promotional release in June 2004. This CD will be targeted at Record Companies in order to raise the profile of HD1 to even higher heights within the music industry. HD1 already has a fantastic reputation and have recorded hundreds of great albums and singles, some of which have become well known classics. HD1 believe that the bands features on the CD will have an excellent opportunity of getting their material heard by Industry Executives. We'll keep you updated on our progress!

ARTIST FOCUS - XI
June 2004 XI, from Leeds, are in the process of recording an album. They have already been in the studio for 16 days and due back for another 10 days for mixing. The album is being produced by our own engineers Steve Whitfield and Bruce Wood (Nightmares on Wax). For more details on the band, check out www.xi-uk.com. November 2004 Local band Serotonin have just recorded a single “Province” at HD1. Province is to be used on a promotional video for Merc clothing who will distribute 500,000 copies with clothing they sell. Huddersfield band Mr Shiraz have just finished recording their first album with us, check out their website. www.mrshiraz.com THE HD1 SHOWCASE CD November 2004 HD1 have just released a showcase CD featuring bands who have recently recorded with them. As well as profiling the bands, the CD shows the quality and diversity of recordings made at HD1. Music from local bands Forgot The Theme, Pin Pim, Nex, Pinstripe, Catch it Kebabs, Smooth and Kubrick are featured. HD1 STUDIOS LIVE November 2004 As well as recording music, HD1 Studios also puts on their own gigs (click here for info), they also sponsor and support other local events like The Timeless Festival, Jimboree, Sudan Emergency Benefits, The Acoustic Club and many others.
