The two sets of northern brothers, that are Manifesto, formed at the beginning of 2003 with little more than a drum stick between them. Theirs is a classic story of "start a band and learn how to play" and it is from learning the hard way, with determination and time, that Manifesto have developed into a band with a special bond and an undeniable edge to their music.

Always ambitious and never satisfied with learning a set full of covers, Manifesto would begin their history with a long stint in the studio, preparing a strong set of original material before heading out to do any gigs. A tour of local youth clubs, towards the end of 2003, would be Manifesto’s first challenge. However, always having confidence and belief in their music right from the beginning would ensure that the tough crowds were easily won over.

Throughout 2004 Manifesto would concentrate heavily on York, playing at a multitude of venues and building upon their fan base. They would also build heavily upon their set, with their sound maturing and getting much tighter than it ever had been before.

Manifesto’s constant determination to better themselves means that they are not a band who just writes a set of songs and leaves it at that. They are always writing new material and constantly working at their set, meaning that they are always developing and crafting their sound for the better.

Manifesto’s success would continue into 2005, with a whole host of good reviews, and gigs being offered to them left, right and centre. As well as continuing to impress in a live situation, Manifesto also decided that it was time to record their first EP. Recording and producing it themselves, over a three month period, it was ready in time for their self organised and very successful EP launch at Certificate 18 in June.

Manifesto’s success in York would bring them attention, and the strength of their music and organisation of their own gig attracted Leeds based promoters, who would offer them gigs at many of Leeds’ prestigious venues such as The Cockpit, The Vine, The Mixing Tin and The New Roscoe.eeds based promoters, who would offer them gigs at many of Leeds’ prestigious venues such

The continued gigging experience and growing fan base throughout 2005 would see Manifesto write more cohesive and focused songs than ever before. Eager to get these songs recorded, the band would return to the studio at the beginning of 2006 to work with a professional producer, at Huddersfield’s well known HD1 Studio’s, producing an impressive EP which brought them to the forefront of the York music scene.

Through 2006 Manifesto would work hard, concentrating on their home city and promoting their new CD with a large number of headline gigs at all of York’s best venues. This was crowned by their headline at Fibbers in which 180 people turned out, to what was one of the biggest local events the venue has seen. 2006 continued to be a great year for Manifesto, with them writing some of their best songs to date, leading to a demand for a 3rd EP, which they recorded towards the end of the year.

With a solid fan base in York,
2007 would see Manifesto spread their wings and begin to hit audiences further a field, with hard work and with help from two professionally recorded EP’s, they secured themselves an impressive summer tour, playing at venues spanning from, Doncaster, Leeds and Sunderland and perhaps capped by a gig at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool. It was a tour that would see Manifesto further mature and further develop their sound and at the end of 2007 and through to the beginning of 2008 Manifesto went back into the studio to write a new set of songs. Excited at the results they produces the band decided to get back into the recording studio in early 2008, and what better place to go than back to HD1 Studios?

A place which really captured Manifesto’s sound perfectly back in 2006 and in which they were to have another excellent recording session again this time. After three days of hard, but fun, work manifesto have come from the studio with their best EP yet and so it is no surprise that they can not wait to get their EP listened to and distributed to their fans and to new audiences throughout the rest of 2008.

They have made 3 EP's which
